Frequently Asked Questions
Do you photograph engagements, weddings, newborns, or families?
No, I’m sorry. I work exclusively with teens 10-16, high school seniors, and teens/young adults seeking pageant portraits. The only exceptions are custom portraits for individuals seeking a style similar to my teen & senior sessions. For example, I will work with a 21-year-old musician who needs promotional portraits. I will also work with young brides who want creative bridal portraits separate from their traditional wedding portraits. Give me a call to discuss your needs and see if a portrait session with Beck Impressions Photography is right for you!
Please understand that photography isn’t as simple as learning how to use a camera and Photoshop. Just like doctors and other professionals, the best photographers are constantly learning new techniques and perfecting their craft. Photographing a wedding or a newborn are completely different than photographing a high school senior. Each genre of portraiture requires different equipment and different skills in order to provide the best possible images. In order to provide the best possible images and experience to my teens & seniors, I prefer to focus all of my energy specializing in their genre.
Trust me. If you are looking for a wedding, newborn, or family photographer, I highly recommend you search out several photographers who specialize in that genre and find the one who best fits your needs and your style. A list of recommended photographers to consider is coming soon!
What about siblings?
On any session, I am always happy to include a sibling for a couple shots. I also offer discounted sessions for siblings where I will photograph each child individually and together. In this case, I may make exceptions to the age limit for teens.
Can I get a picture with my boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend during my session?
Just like with siblings, I am always happy to include a couple shots with a boyfriend/girlfriend or best friend during your session. I also offer discounted “BFF Sessions” where you can each save on your individual portraits when you book your session together!
Do you take the formal yearbook pictures?
Unforunately, no. The tuxedo/drape and cap & gown portraits are studio images shot by the company your school contracts to do the yearbook photos. Most schools only allow those images in the yearbook. If your school allows outside casual portraits, I am happy to provide them with a digital file of your choice.
How many outfits should I bring?
Bring several outfits and a lot of accessories! The number of outfits we have time for depends on your session, but it’s good to have backup clothes in case something else works better for the location than what was planned. Changing outfits takes time away from your session, so using layers or accessories is a quick way to change your look!
Can I bring a friend to my session?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage you to bring a friend to your session. They can help you with wardrobe changes, as well as help you relax and feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Are prints or digital files included with the session fee?
All-Inclusive sessions include digital files and/or prints as specified. Otherwise, the session fee does not include prints or digital files.
Do I get a CD of digital images?
All purchased images include a low-resolution digital file for sharing on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media. These files are not suitable for printing. You may purchase individual high resolution files with printing rights, or choose a digital collection that includes a USB flash drive with all of your images!
What is the print deposit for? What do I get with my print deposit?
The print deposit is simply just a deposit payment towards your portrait purchase. The deposit amount for your session is the minimum order requirement for the chosen session. This is due at the time of your session and will count 100% toward your total purchase during your ordering appointment. You may use that amount towards any collection or a la carte purchase.
How long until my proofs are ready?
I will show one or two sneak peek images on Instagram and/or Facebook within a week of your session. We will schedule your in-person viewing & ordering appointment 3-4 weeks after your photo shoot, or you may choose an online gallery for viewing & ordering. You can expect to have your prints about 2-3 weeks after you order. Collages, albums, and other custom products may take more time for designing and proofing.
